About me


I am Gwen "Shadowsun" Broeckx. I work as a Unity game developer since 2014.

Working in different environments brought me valuable knowledge and experience these few last years.
Recently, I created my own company : Maratus. As a founder, I learned a lot about the administrative and funding side of the industry.
Launching ARISEN taught me how to manage and develop a game to full release.

I am currently working at Homo Ludens as a Senior Unity game developer on Blooming Business: Casino.

I highly value sensitivity, communication, teamplay/teamwork, benevolence, kindness and inclusivity. This reflects in my life, my work and my projects virtues.

When I have time, I like to make prototypes and experimental features such as holographic games or experiences. I like to discover the new features of Unity whenever they update the engine and sometimes, I lose myself in Amplify making shaders.

Blooming Business: Casino is a tycoon game with a drama and animal twist.

ARISEN: Chronicles of Var'Nagal

ARISEN is a narrative game/VN with a twist in which you express yourself using emotions represented by cards.

ARISEN: Prologue

VN with a twist. Prologue of the first game of Maratus. Released for free on Steam.

Bump

Bump revisited with another art direction, running on PC for 2 to 4 player. Presented at Gamescom 2019.

Holocade - Hardware

Experimental holographic display system created for games and showcase experiences.

Holographic 3-players versus game made for Holocade. Revisited Pong/Breakout.

Night Terror

Two-players cooperative sound-based horror FPS where you are hunted by an invisible monster in your dream.

Music learning game made during Gamejam. Allows to use a music instrument via MIDI input to play.

Scrap Wars

Hexagonal simultaneous turn-based tactical with cyberpunk flavor. Made in 3 months and inspired by Advance Wars.

4-players cooperation Dungeon Crawler made during a Gamejam about compromise.

Super BlindMan

3D runner/rythm 2-players cooperative game. One player is a super hero blinded by a villain and the other is his acolyte that give him directions via an old monitor.

Sword & Bows

Multiplayer boardgame created and crafted in 3 days. Last man standing - cards - dice game.

Escapelle

GearVR photo-realistic escape game experience about David Lachapelle's art.

Noir Detective

A 2D stealth game where you play a detective in a Noir Lovecraftian world.

Heart Princess

A classical vertical scroller shooter where you spread love instead of war.

K-BOOM

A simple 2D interface stress game made in 8hours. Theme: 1 button, 10 seconds

Scrap Warrior

Multiplayer boardgame prototype created and crafted in 3 days. Last man standing - combo - cards game.

Invocation

3D action puzzle-platformer where you play 2 characters that need to interact and cooperate to solve puzzles.



What I do best

Senior Unity Game Developer

That is my main skill set! I am very proficient in C# and with Unity's workflow as they have been my everyday tools for more that 7 years.

Unity Tool Developer

I love - and am experienced in - making different tools in Unity. From simple Inspector views to more complex and customized windowed tools, I tend to put myself in other's shoes to see how I can improve their workflow.

Unity Technical-Artist

I have some experience in shaders and tricks in Unity to make games juicier and more appealing. I feel comfier with Amplify regarding shaders.

Kiss Your Teacher Gamejam 2017

KYT is an annual event where participants have 48 hours to prototype an educational game. Onanagro Studio developed the prototype of "RE-PLAY", a music teaching game whose purpose is to support music or instrument teachers.

From 2015 to 2018 I participated in multiple trainings and learning workshops at Technocité. During this time, I had the opportunity to learn from people working directly in the industry and to participate in a lot of projects. I created 2 boardgames, a VR escape-game experience and over 10 videogames.
